Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> <\/strong>announced a major change to his eponymous late-night talk show, citing alleged threats from the President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> administration-led Federal Communications Commission (FCC).<\/p>\n

On the Wednesday, September 9, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a>, the talk show host announced that an upcoming interview with James Talarico<\/strong>, the Democratic nominee in the 2026 U.S. Senate election in Texas, will not air on ABC but via his show\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be interviewing James Talarico tomorrow night under unusual circumstances,\u201d Kimmel, 58, said during his monologue on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He explained, \u201cYou know, for the whole 20-plus years of our show, I\u2019ve been interviewing Americans who are running for office with no problem at all, just like [David] Letterman<\/strong> did, [Jay] Leno<\/strong> did, Arsenio [Hall]<\/strong>. \u2026 I\u2019ve interviewed a lot of political candidates, from Hillary Clinton<\/strong> to Ted Cruz<\/strong> to Donald Trump himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Monday, February 16, episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the host, 61, called out CBS and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr for not allowing him to speak with Texas State Representative James [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI interviewed Donald Trump when he was running for president in 2015 and at that time, when he was the one sitting next to me, he seemed to have no problem with the idea of talk show hosts interviewing candidates,\u201d Kimmel continued. \u201cIn fact, he was very eager to come back for another interview, which he did just before he became the [Republican presidential] nominee in 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut for some reason, and I can\u2019t seem to figure out what that reason is, something has changed,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

Kimmel alleged, \u201cNow that he\u2019s president, his FCC has threatened me, threatened our show, threatened our network, ABC, our affiliates, our local stations, based on simple traditional editorial decisions, guest bookings, it would seem they don\u2019t like.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so out of consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas, who would have to deal with this nonsense, my interview tomorrow with James Talarico will not air on television,\u201d Kimmel noted. \u201cIt will be posted on YouTube instead. \n\t\t\tTexas Senator Ted Cruz suggested that Jimmy Kimmel should not face legal repercussions from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for criticizing President Donald Trump. \u201cIt is not [the] government\u2019s job to censor speech, and I do not believe the FCC should operate as the speech police,\u201d Cruz, 55, told Punchbowl News in an interview posted [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added, \u201cThank goodness we have that because in the America we live in right now, that is the best that we can do\u2026 until November, of course,\u201d referring to the upcoming midterm elections.<\/p>\n
