Pink<\/a> did share an Instagram Story from StopAntisemitism, which read: \u201cAwful – Jewish fans bought tickets to see Ed Sheeran sing last night in NJ, not to be ambushed by Macklemore’s anti-Israel propaganda,’ the caption on the original post read.<\/p>\n\n\u201cInstead, Macklemore walked onstage in a keffiyeh, shouted \u2018Free Palestine,\u2019 accused Israel of a false \u2018genocide,\u2019 and turned a mainstream event into a political nightmare against the Jewish state. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cConcert goers are owed apologies and refunds.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAfter his initial \u2018Free Palestine\u2019 remarks on Friday night, Macklemore then introduced his song Hind\u2019s Hall, and explained that the tune was \u201cinspired by the bravery of Columbia University students who led an encampment movement that mobilised the entire world\u201d, saying they had \u201copened up hearts, myself included\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nHe was referring to The Gaza Solidarity Encampment, which took place in April 2024, and saw the students stage a protest encampment to demand that the university call for an end to the war between Palestine and Israel.<\/p>\n
\nMacklemore continued: \u201cSo thank you to those students that risked their diplomas, that risked their tuition, that risked their scholarships, that stood up and said, \u2018No\u2019. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cCUAD students, Students for Justice in Palestine, and Jewish Voice for Peace. Thank you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMacklemore\u2019s comments saw him widely slammed by music fans, some of whom even started a petition to see him kicked off Ed\u2019s tour. <\/p>\n
\nAt the next show on Saturday night, Macklemore then said: \u201cTo all of my Jewish brothers and sisters: criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cMy message is for peace; love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe also appeared to respond to his critics by sharing a video of his Friday speech on Instagram, writing in the caption: \u201cWanting all humans to be treated equal should never be controversial.\u201d<\/p>\n
