The Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars had been due to go to Japan after a busy few months which has seen the couple on the promo trail for both the latest superhero instalment and Christopher Nolan\u2019s The Odyssey. <\/p>\n
So, instead of letting the no-expense spared break go to waste, Tom offered it to his parents – stand-up comedian and writer Dominic Holland and his wife Nicola – for free.<\/p>\n
Dominic told the audience at the Queen’s Park Book Festival in London: \u201cSo, you know that Tom had a few films out recently he had The Odyssey out then he had Spider-Man.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd he’s been tired, he’s been working unbelievably hard.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe and Zendaya have done probably twice around the globe to promote these films. They were tired they’d probably done maybe 20, 10-hour flights and about three days after the London premiere, he said, \u2018Dad we’ve got this holiday to Japan\u2019 and I said \u2018that’ll be nice Tom, you’ll enjoy it\u2019.<\/p>\n
\n‘And he said, \u2018Dad it’s too far and I’m too tired. What I thought I’d do Dad is that I’d send you and mum instead.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDominic added that while he and Nicola were thrilled to take the holiday, staff at the posh hotel Tom had booked were somewhat disappointed when they saw him rather than his superstar son. <\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt was lovely going to Japan.\u00a0It was first class travel, posh hotel, but the thing is, all these restaurants and hotels are expecting Tom Holland and in the strata of disappointment they are expecting Tom Holland and they get Dominic.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe Japanese are very polite and servile people but even they went \u2018Hmmm\u2019. Typical of me –\u00a0here’s the thing… I’ve written 10 books and got exactly zero with me tonight which sums up my career.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDominic\u2019s admission about the holiday comes after Tom and Zendaya recently held a second wedding at the five-star Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey, which is reported to have cost them in the realm of \u00a3500,000.<\/p>\n
