After taking a break from East High, season 4 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series<\/em><\/a> will see the students back at school as they face senior year \u2014 and put on a one of a kind musical.<\/p>\n Ahead of the show\u2019s season 3 in July 2022, Disney+ announced that HSMTMTS<\/em> would continue to entertain fans<\/a>. \u201cThis series continues to deliver best in class drama, humor and heart,\u201d President of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis<\/strong>, said in May 2022. \u201c[Creator] Tim Federle<\/strong>\u2018s vision and interpretation of this legacy IP keeps evolving season over season and we can\u2019t wait to see what\u2019s in store for the Wildcats next.\u201d<\/p>\n The showrunner, for his part, gushed about the world he got to build with the mockumentary musical drama<\/a>. \u201cThis series has been an epic adventure from the start and I\u2019m beyond grateful that we get to keep making music, telling these stories and showcasing these exceptional stars,\u201d Federle added in a statement.<\/p>\n The show, which stars Sofia Wylie<\/strong>, Joshua Bassett<\/strong><\/a>, Matt Cornett, Julia Lester, Dara Rene\u00e9 <\/strong>and Frankie A. Rodriguez<\/strong>, became a bigger topic of conversation two months later when Zac Efron<\/strong><\/a> and Vanessa Hudgens<\/strong><\/a> paid a visit to East High during individual visits.<\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t you\u2026 Forget about me \u270a\ud83c\udffc,\u201d the actor captioned an Instagram photo of him posing in front of the school<\/a> in July 2022, referencing The Breakfast Club with his quote and pose<\/a>. His onscreen father, Bart Johnson<\/strong>, replied to the post, writing, \u201cWarms coaches ole heart to see this. Welcome home, son. WHAT TEAM!? \ud83c\udfc0\ud83d\udc3e.\u201d<\/p>\n Hudgens had her own walk down memory lane<\/a> one month prior, writing via Instagram, \u201cDo you remember in kindergarten how you\u2019d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you\u2019re playing like you\u2019re best friends because you didn\u2019t have to be anything but yourself?\u201d<\/p>\n The Spring Breakers<\/em> star also included a video of her dancing in front<\/a> of the school. Earlier that year, the actress reflected on her time with the High School Musical<\/em> franchise<\/a> while hosting the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cApparently high school musicals have changed since 2006. Euphoria High does not do it like East High did. There\u2019s a lot less singing, a lot more hair pulling and a lot more cleavage,\u201d Hudgens joked after a skit where she portrayed Sydney Sweeney<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s character, Cassie Howard, in June 2022.<\/p>\n During season 3 of HSMTMTS<\/em><\/a>, the characters took a trip to Camp Shallow Lake where they put on Disney\u2019s Frozen<\/em> as their chosen musical. In September 2022, the cast and crew confirmed at the D23 Expo that everyone would be returning to East High.<\/p>\n
