\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n News broke today that feminist icon Gloria Steinem<\/strong><\/a> has sadly passed away at the age of 92.<\/a><\/p>\n If you are not aware, the activist played a major role in the feminist movement by advocating for women\u2019s equality, reproductive rights, and greater political participation. <\/p>\n What many people may not know, is she had a very famous stepson.<\/p>\n Gloria Steinem <\/strong>married Christian<\/strong>\u2018s dad, David Bale<\/strong>, in 2000, when she was 66 years old. You can see a photo of them above.<\/p>\n David <\/strong>was a businessman and activist. He unfortunately passed away at the age of 62, just three years after they wed.<\/p>\n \u201cI spent 30 years working to make marriage for women more equal,\u201d Gloria <\/strong>told the New York Daily News<\/em><\/a> back in 2000. \u201cThis is the first time I wanted to explore this possibility for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n About the age she decided to get married, she once told The Ledger<\/em><\/a>, \u201cI never thought of [marrying younger]. I didn\u2019t want to marry until then. I couldn\u2019t have married in my 20s or 30s. The laws were terrible. You gave up all your civil rights (to sole property ownership and credit). It wouldn\u2019t have been personally right.\u201d<\/p>\n She was also step-mother to his other kids, Louise Bale, Sharon Bale<\/strong>, and Erin Kreunen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was news to me; I was in Germany. I found out about it afterwards,\u201d Christian shared with The Guardian<\/em><\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n He also added, \u201cI don\u2019t think my father thought that anything like this would happen to him at this point in his life,\u201d via Interview<\/a> in 2012.<\/p>\n Back in 2022, she attended a screening for his Netflix movie The Pale Blue Eye <\/em>in New York City.<\/p>\n You can see that photo above.
