Here’s the official logline: This modern interpretation of Steinbeck’s masterpiece will explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames.<\/p>\n

The series also stars Christopher Abbott<\/strong> and Mike Faist<\/strong>, as well as Hoon Lee<\/strong>, Tracy Letts<\/strong>, Ciar\u00e1n Hinds<\/strong>, Martha Plimpton<\/strong>, Joseph Zada<\/strong>, and Joe Anders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Zoe Kazan<\/strong><\/a>, an actress known for her work in movies like The Big Sick<\/em> and She Said<\/em>, serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the new project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t have another person that I thought would be just as good. She [Florence Pugh<\/strong>] is the exact right person to play Cathy,\u201d co-showrunner and writer Zoe Kazan<\/strong> said in a statement to Tudum.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t use this word lightly: I think she\u2019s a genius. I watched her on set for five months. I have no more insight now as to how she works than I did before. I can see how hard she works, and I can see how much it means to her, but there\u2019s no obvious preparation or process that is visible to me at least.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to make sure that she was also a person and not just an archetype,\u201d she added of the character.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that really required me to do some unfolding rather than inventing. Basically, everything that\u2019s in the series has at least a root in the book.\u201d<\/p>\n
