The 82-year-old disgraced former glam rocker – whose real name is Paul Gadd – appeared via videolink at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday (02.09.26) to enter a plea to a series of allegations relating to a young girl, who he has been accused of assaulting in the late 1970s and early 1980s when she was aged between eight and 11.<\/p>\n
Glitter, who is serving a prison sentence at HMP Channings Wood in Devon following previous convictions, replied “absolutely not guilty” to two of the charges and “not guilty” to the remaining six.<\/p>\n
He will face trial for the allegations – four counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child, and two charges of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 – from the week of 22 November next year.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Jonathan Polnay KC said the alleged offences took place between 1978 and 1981, when the complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was aged between eight and 11.<\/p>\n
\nThe offences allegedly took place at Glitter\u2019s home address in Kensington and Chelsea.<\/p>\n
\nAt a previous hearing, prosecutors alleged Glitter would give the girl chocolate and \u201cinvite her into his house where he then committed a number of serious sexual offences\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nAppearing by videolink wearing a blue shirt, glasses and a cap, Glitter previously told the court: \u201cYour honour, excuse me, I\u2019m extremely deaf and unless I\u2019m lip-reading I can\u2019t hear.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cMy name is Paul Gadd.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe then added: \u201cSorry, your honour, may I make a suggestion?<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf the barrister turns the volume down a little bit, it wouldn\u2019t be so distorting in my hearing aids.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor in CPS London, said: \u201cThe Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute Paul Gadd with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThis follows allegations made by a woman relating to a period of alleged abuse that took place between 1978 and 1981.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOur prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGlitter is currently serving a prison sentence that is due to expire in February 2031, when he would be almost 87.<\/p>\n
\nHe was first imprisoned in 1999 and later received a 16-year sentence in 2015 before being released on licence in February 2023.<\/p>\n
