While Furious<\/em> is officially returning<\/a>, is every cast member coming back in season 2?<\/p>\n

Pulling inspiration from the 1987 film Black Widow<\/em>, creator Elizabeth Meriwether<\/strong> explores dark themes of abuse and human trafficking in Furious through the eyes of several complex \u2014 and many times imperfect \u2014 characters.<\/p>\n

At the center of Furious<\/em> is FBI agent Alice<\/a> (Emmy Rossum<\/strong>) as she hunts for a mysterious and calculating female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew<\/strong>, who targets men who prey on girls.<\/p>\n

\u201cOften on television, we see women who are victims as perfect victims. They\u2019re presented with halos. I really wanted the show to dig into what it actually feels like to be a victim of violence and how it can manifest in really strange ways,\u201d Meriwether teased to Us in July. \u201cIt can end up making you make strange and tough choices.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom The Summer I Turned Pretty to The Morning Show, TV fans have been very lucky recently when it comes to their favorite shows getting early \u2014 and surprise \u2014 renewals. Netflix surprised viewers who are still awaiting Benedict\u2019s (Luke Thompson) romance with Sophie (Yerin Ha), which will play out in Bridgerton season 4, by [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The crime drama, which also stars Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine<\/strong> and Jake Lacy<\/strong>, relies on twists and turns that even the characters don\u2019t see coming. While Furious<\/em> centers on difficult subject matter, it makes an effort not to show graphic scenes of abuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a show made mostly by women,\u201d Rossum shared with Us<\/em>. \u201cYou can feel that in the treatment of the women and the victims in the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rossum noted that \u201cnothing is gratuitous<\/a>\u201d in the eight-part Hulu show, which has since been picked up for more episodes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no flashbacks that are showing the violence against them,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut we feel that in every aspect of them. We can see the specific ways that it shows up in their life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rossum elaborated: \u201cThat is more meaningful to see the way that the history of that affects you now than needing to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n
