Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/b> continues its box office reign with a $22 million weekend, bringing its domestic total to $891.5 million. It is on the cusp of becoming the top grossing domestic film of all time. <\/p>\n
In second place was newcomer Coyote vs Acme<\/b>, the film that David Zaslav nearly sent to the virtual trash heap for a tax write-off, with a $15.5 million opening weekend. That is the biggest opening ever for Ketchup Entertainment, the distributor that rescued the film for theatrical viewings.<\/p>\n
The Odyssey<\/b> continues its long run in the top five with a $14.3 million weekend. So far, it has made $563.8 million at the domestic box office.<\/p>\n
In fourth spot was Insidious: Out of the Further<\/b>, which pulled in $10.1 million, bringing its total domestic take to $43 million. <\/p>\n
Rounding out the top five was new release The Dog Stars<\/b>, which received tepid reviews and a C+ Cinemascore, with an $8 million domestic take. The film cost north of $80 million to produce.<\/p>\n
New releases Idiots<\/b> and Finding Emily<\/b> made $700k and $680k respectively, though the former was in over 1100 theaters and the latter was only in 681.<\/p>\n
