Hollywood is in mourning following the death<\/span><\/a> of country music icon and actress Dolly Parton<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cA rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth and kindness that made us all feel like family,\u201d Parton\u2019s rep said in a statement. \u201cDolly Parton\u2019s legacy is one of love, compassion and resilience. \u2026 Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although a cause of death was not revealed, Parton\u2019s team said the 9 to 5<\/em> actress died peacefully in Nashville on Tuesday, August 25, at the age of 80.<\/p>\n

A small, private service will be held for immediate family at a later date.<\/p>\n

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library<\/span><\/a>, a program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age 5, no matter their family\u2019s income.<\/p>\n
