Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a> is responding to a lawsuit through her legal team.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old Rare Beauty mogul was accused of fraud by Wondermind<\/strong><\/a> investors, who claim that she, mom Mandy Teefey<\/strong>, and their former business partner Daniella Pierson<\/strong> \u201cfalsely represented\u201d the startup company. Now, Selena is speaking out via lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart<\/strong>, who filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Why Selena Gomez Wants the Wondermind Lawsuit Dismissed<\/h3>\n

\u201cPlaintiffs\u2019 vague, generalized, and contradictory allegations concerning Selena Gomez <\/strong>demonstrate that Ms. Gomez <\/strong>could not possibly have engaged in any \u2018fraud\u2019 (she did not), is not liable to Plaintiffs (she is not) and, as a matter of law, must be dismissed from this lawsuit,” the filing reads, via People.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Gomez <\/strong>agreed to support her mother Mandy Teefey<\/strong>, who co-founded Wondermind… Although she invested in and holds a minority stake in the Company, Ms. Gomez <\/strong>never agreed to and did not manage the Company. Management was vested in Ms. Gomez<\/strong>\u2019s mother, Mandy Teefey<\/strong>, and Ms. Pierson<\/strong>, who ran the Company as co-CEOs and board members. The Company, in turn, retained Ms. Gomez<\/strong> as a consultant and conferred on her the title of Chief Impact Officer (\u201cCIO\u201d).\u201d<\/p>\n

Selena’s mom has not yet made a statement, but their former business partner Daniella <\/strong>\u201ccategorically\u201d denied the allegations, via the NYT<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

What Selena Gomez’s Lawyer Said About the Fraud Claims<\/h3>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s motion to dismiss demonstrates that plaintiffs never should have dragged Selena Gomez<\/strong> into this case as the claims against her are completely meritless if not frivolous.\u00a0 The notion that Selena <\/strong>engaged in \u2018fraud\u2019 or any other wrongdoing is absurd \u2014 and in addition to filing our motion we are exploring other avenues of relief for Ms. Gomez <\/strong>including sanctions against plaintiffs for improperly including her,” the lawyer added in a statement to People<\/em> after the filing.<\/p>\n
