Some big-name brands are in big trouble over some recent developments. <\/p>\n

  • Target released its Halloween collection, and one clown costume strongly resembles old-fashioned, racist cartoons of Black Americans and minstrel performers. Further, it was modeled on the website by a Black child model. Target has apologized for it.<\/li>\n
  • Good Good Golf released a commercial for a new line of golf clubs that features a man deliberately pushing a woman onto the ground as she reaches for his club. Then, he stands over her as she lies on the ground and he warns her, “Do not touch my new driver.” Domestic violence advocates (and women in general) were not happy, and Good Good Golf has since deleted the ad and apologized.

  • Texas Roadhouse is investigating a Facebook post in which a user claimed that Texas Roadhouse employees regularly spit in and tamper with the food of Black customers.\n

    A user under the name of “Nancy Smith” posted in a white supremacist Facebook group:<\/p>\n

    There is currently no confirmation that the user works or formerly worked at Texas Roadhouse. The theater chain says that they believe the post is “completely unfounded.”<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • A guy named Deric Cahill made a jokey TikTok<\/a> about being annoyed by how many boxes his Lovesac couch came in that he had to assemble. Shawn David Nelson, the CEO of Lovesac, posted in response<\/a> saying that he will send a pair of size small floral gardening gloves to Deric as compensation. He also implied that Deric must have “especially soft hands.” The implication being that Deric is soft, small, and feminine. Nelson concluded, “Oh, and Deric, was your wife, in fact, horny — I mean, happy — when she saw the beautiful Lovesac, ready to last a few decades in your home, that you built with your own two hands? You’re welcome.”

    Lovesac posted a TikTok of a woman assembling the couch with the text, “this and not getting the ick from a grown man needing tiny little gloves to assemble a couch.” The post was captioned, “The feminine urge to provide the masculine energy.” Then, Lovesac also posted a TikTok<\/a> with the text, “turns out the best way to get laid is assembling a Lovesac couch for your wife.” Lovesac also posted an Instagram<\/a> with the caption, “Nothing\u2019s more of a turn on than velvet, flexed muscles, and a man who can follow instructions.”<\/p>\n

    After a wave of backlash, Nelson smugly backtracked somewhat<\/a>. His earlier sexist response and the brand’s sexist posts are still up, though.<\/p>\n
