Perez Hilton<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s brother-in-law is sharing an update on the celebrity blogger\u2019s well-being, three weeks after he appeared to self-harm during a disturbing livestream<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview recorded on Sunday, August 23, for \u201cThe Perez Hilton Podcast\u201d cohosted by Chris Booker<\/strong>, Hilton\u2019s brother-in-law, Tom<\/strong>, who is married to his sister Barbara Lavandeira<\/strong>, said<\/a> that \u201cup until about 48 hours or so ago from this recording, he was being treated for physical issues\u201d related to the August 4 incident<\/a> at his home in Miami.<\/p>\n

According to Tom, Hilton, 48, suffered numerous cuts and several broken bones from \u201ca couple of falls\u201d that happened during the episode. He has been hospitalized ever since.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we are now just transitioning into the mental side of things,\u201d Tom said. \u201cOf course, while he\u2019s been treated for his physical ailments, psychiatrists come in and check in and see how he\u2019s doing, make sure he\u2019s not looking to harm himself, that kind of thing. But the actual healing or digging into what caused this mental break, as I called it, hasn\u2019t been discovered completely.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPerez Hilton\u2019s sister, Barbara Lavandeira, shared harrowing details about coming face-to-face with the blogger on the night he filmed a troubling livestream that led to his hospitalization. \u201cWhat I can say with certainty is that I didn\u2019t recognize my brother when I looked at him. I saw it in his eyes. They didn\u2019t look the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tom said that Hilton \u2014 real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. \u2014 is \u201clucid\u201d in the hospital and has had conversations with him, as well as his mother and sister.<\/p>\n

Asked if Hilton remembered the August 4 incident or understood what happened, Tom said, \u201cI didn\u2019t dig into that too much when I spoke to him. I didn\u2019t want to trigger any anxiety for him. I wanted him to really focus on his physical ailments \u2026 actual recovery of the lacerations and the bones.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how much he really does recall or doesn\u2019t recall,\u201d the star\u2019s brother-in-law added.<\/p>\n

Tom said that Hilton\u2019s children have not been able to visit him in the hospital, and he has had no access to electronic devices amid his hospitalization. (Hilton is dad to Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. His mom, Teresita Lavandeira<\/strong>, was granted temporary custody<\/a> of the kids earlier this month.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPerez Hilton\u2019s family is sharing a new update on his status amid his hospitalization, confirming the celebrity blogger will require \u201csurgery\u201d for the injuries he sustained during a disturbing livestream. \u201cPerez\u2019s condition remains serious but stable,\u201d his family shared via his website on Saturday, August 8. \u201cHe experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s able to talk to people like his family and people that he calls through the nursing station,\u201d Tom said. \u201cSo he\u2019s able to call Barbara, he\u2019s able to call his mom, he\u2019s able to call me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tom said he hopes that Hilton will eventually be reunited with his children, \u201cwith the advice of psychiatric help,\u201d following the traumatic incident that occurred earlier this month.<\/p>\n

In an August 5 statement<\/a>, Hilton\u2019s family said, \u201cOur family wants to once again thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind messages, and support for Perez. Your compassionate humanity during this profoundly heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express. This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful.\u201d<\/p>\n
