Taylor Swift reveals several ‘coping mechanisms’ to help deal with her ‘unmanageably big’ career<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old pop megastar has told how she sometimes hits back at those who criticise her by deliberately using big words she knows they will have to “look up”. <\/p>\n
Speaking on the Grammy Museum\u2019s Icon Sessions, she told Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr: “Sometimes when people are mocking me it\u2019s really fun to mock them back.<\/p>\n
“Sometimes I like to just use words that they have to look up in order to talk s*** about.”<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
She also added in an exaggerated tone: “It\u2019s like, anything you say, they\u2019re like, ‘Oh, easy for you to say.’ “<\/p>\n
\nTaylor has opened up about her “coping mechanisms” she puts into practice to help her get through life as a huge music star, admitting she knows she could’ve quit her career at any point before it became “unmanageably big”. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I go through several processes and coping mechanisms that I\u2019ve gone through over the years and one of them is saying, ‘You chose this. You chose this every day. You could have opted out of this any day before it got unmanageably big.’ <\/p>\n
\n“And I decided not to because I love it that much. And that\u2019s just where it begins and where it ends.<\/p>\n
\n“And everything that comes with this ultimately is worth it as long as I get to still make music.”<\/p>\n
\nDespite receiving hate from some, the Love Story hitmaker – who is married to NFL player Travis Kelce, 36 – prefers to focus on her adoring fans and knows she is making music “for the right reasons”. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: “I realised that I\u2019m making music because I\u2019m playing for the fans. “I\u2019m putting this out for people who care about it and who look to music as a way to cope with their life in the way that I did.<\/p>\n
\n“I think that if you can actually go through all those checkpoints, and realise that putting out music that you\u2019ve made that you love so much is not the path to universal validation, if you\u2019re still doing it, then you love it for the right reasons.”<\/p>\n
