Sam Waterston<\/strong><\/a> is returning to NBC for a new series after departing Law & Order<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He has joined the upcoming drama series Line of Fire<\/strong><\/a><\/em> starring 9-1-1 <\/em>alum Peter Krause<\/strong><\/a>. Chris Chalk <\/strong>and Campbell Scott<\/strong> have also joined the cast and the series will premiere this fall, per Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Who are Sam Waterston, Campbell Scott, and Chris Calk playing?<\/h3>\n

Sam <\/strong>will play former President Thomas Barnes, who shares a deep bond with Peter<\/strong>‘s character, Mike. Mike remains haunted by a close call that occurred while he was assigned to Barnes’ Secret Service detail.<\/p>\n

Sam <\/strong>notably played Jack McCoy for over 18 seasons on Law & Order<\/em>. He left the show in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chris Calk<\/strong> is set to guest star as the current President Kayana. He’s known for Perry Mason<\/em>, The Newsroom<\/em>, and It: Welcome to Derry<\/em>. <\/p>\n

Campbell <\/strong>will recur as a United States senator named Terry, the boyfriend of a woman named Jane, played by Hope Davis<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

What is Line of Fire <\/em>about?<\/h3>\n

Line of Fire<\/em> follows a family “who bridge personal differences and cross professional boundaries as they tackle cases for the FBI, US Marshals, Secret Service, and Department of Justice. After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice \u2026 even if it means betraying their sworn code.”<\/p>\n

Hope <\/strong>and Peter <\/strong>are the leads, but the show also stars Kat Cunning<\/strong>, Tommy O’Brien<\/strong>, Taylor Bloom<\/strong>, and Charlie Barnett<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
