A Los Angeles judge has granted pop star Ariana Grande<\/a> permission to subpoena information that will help to reveal the identities of anonymous hackers<\/a> she alleges infiltrated the devices of people close to her and stole unreleased music.<\/p>\n

Judge Mark H. Epstein approved Grande\u2019s proposed order for expedited discovery on Wednesday, after her legal team argued that it was necessary to identify those who hacked and stole the unreleased music, behind-the-scenes footage and music videos that were reportedly sold online.<\/p>\n

In her application for expedited discovery, Grande reportedly said she needed to accelerate her lawsuit because if she doesn\u2019t identify the alleged hackers, \u201ctheir hacking, theft, dissemination, sales, and publication of [her] content will continue,\u201d Rolling Stone reports<\/a>.<\/div>\n

\u201cGiven that there is no one to whom notice can be given anyway, it makes little sense to wait the 16 days,\u201d Judge Epstein wrote in the legal filing, viewed by The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Rolling Stone<\/a> and Variety<\/a>. \u201cAnd on the merits of the motion, good cause is shown.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande initially filed her lawsuit on July 27<\/a>, which reportedly targets a group of unnamed John Does for phishing scams and hacking schemes that caused \u201cunlawful and egregious theft, dissemination and exploitation of unreleased content.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande\u2019s legal team reportedly outlined a pattern of illegal behaviour in which the unnamed hackers targeted the personal digital accounts of photographers and producers who work closely with her and sold the data for \u201csignificant sums of money,\u201d according to Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Grande is suing the unnamed hackers to \u201cuncover the identities of these currently unknown and unscrupulous individuals in order to hold them accountable for their invasive and reprehensible conduct,\u201d per Variety.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit reportedly states that it is \u201cimperative to Ms. Grande to ensure \u2014 on behalf of herself and others \u2014 that such conduct is deterred to the fullest extent possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old singer\u2019s legal team is asking a judge to order a return of her items as well as stopping further action in the future, ABC News reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit also alleges invasion of privacy, violation of California\u2019s Comprehensive Data Access and Fraud Act, and civil theft, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms. Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked by Defendants,\u201d the complaint alleges, according to NBC News<\/a>. \u201cSince her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande is demanding a jury trial, according to the complaint, viewed by the outlets.<\/p>\n

The case is due back in court on Jan. 25 for a status hearing.<\/p>\n

Global News has reached out to Grande\u2019s rep for further comment, but has not received a response.<\/p>\n

Grande previously spoke out about her unreleased music showing up online without her permission during a\u00a02024 appearance on the\u00a0Zach Sang Show<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

She said her unreleased song\u00a0Fantasize\u00a0<\/em>was leaked online and gained popularity on TikTok.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore I left for Wicked<\/em>, a few studio sessions that I did, which are all over TikTok \u2014 thank you so much, I\u2019ll see you in jail. Literally,\u201d Grande said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re all real leaks?\u201d Sang asked.<\/p>\n
