Gillian Anderson<\/a> believes her life has followed a “divine plan”.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Gillian Anderson has reflected on her career arc<\/p>\n
The 58-year-old actress has enjoyed success on stage and screen, but Gillian has suggested that a higher power may have guided her in a particular direction in her life and in her career.<\/p>\n
She told The Independent: “I\u2019ve never allowed anyone to force me into anything that I didn\u2019t want to do.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s more been about choosing to step away for a period of time, or do theatre, or do an indie film, as opposed to whatever your trajectory is meant to be.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s funny, only sometimes in retrospect does one realise there might have been a divine plan all along.”<\/p>\n
\nGillian thinks her career arc also reflects her real-life self.<\/p>\n
\nShe explained: “I think I\u2019ve always stayed on a path that makes sense for me at any given time. And ultimately you get to a point where you feel like, yes \u2013 this does represent who I am.”<\/p>\n
\nGillian shot to international stardom after appearing in The X Files, the hit sci-fi TV show, in the 90s.<\/p>\n
\nHowever, the actress previously recalled feeling overwhelmed by the fame and success that she experienced.<\/p>\n
\nGillian – who was just 25 when the series premiered in 1993 – said on the Fail Better podcast: “I do remember times where I just bawled my eyes out.<\/p>\n
\n“It’s hard under those circumstances.”<\/p>\n
\nThe actress starred alongside David Duchovny on the show, and she recalled them both becoming “uber adults very quickly”.<\/p>\n
\nGillian said: “It required us to be, you know, uber adults very quickly. And I have to imagine that under those extreme circumstances that the only thing that at times is gonna wanna come out is actually our [inner] child and not our adult at all.”<\/p>\n
\nThe X Files was a hugely successful series, but the show’s main stars often clashed behind the scenes.<\/p>\n
\nAt one stage, Chris Carter – the series creator – suggested an innovative solution to end their off-screen feud.<\/p>\n
\nDavid shared: “I think we were kind of butting heads so early on in the first season that Chris asked us if we would go into fake couples therapy. Would we go into, like, TV character couple therapy?<\/p>\n
\n“I remember sitting in his office with [Gillian], and Chris is like, \u2018Yeah, do you guys wanna go, like, into therapy?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018You mean as Mulder and Scully? I\u2019m confused\u2026\u2019”<\/p>\n
