{"id":258824,"date":"2026-08-21T15:15:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T15:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/21\/k-pop-singer-geonroung-park-will-always-be-proud-to-be-the-baby-shark-boy\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T15:15:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T15:15:10","slug":"k-pop-singer-geonroung-park-will-always-be-proud-to-be-the-baby-shark-boy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/21\/k-pop-singer-geonroung-park-will-always-be-proud-to-be-the-baby-shark-boy\/","title":{"rendered":"K-pop singer Geonroung Park will always be proud to be the Baby Shark boy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"byline\">\n<p>        <time itemprop=\"datePublished\" content=\"2026-08-21\" datetime=\"1787325310\" pubdate=\"\">21 August 2026<\/time>\n    <\/p>\n<p>New K-pop singer Geonroung Park is proud to be the Baby Shark boy &#8211; now he wants to share his own voice with the world.<\/p>\n<p>                            <\/p>\n<p class=\"image-caption landscape\">Geonroung Park was the boy in the Baby Shark Dance video<\/p>\n<p>Park, 17, was the boy who starred in the viral <a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/youtube\/\" class=\"exposure-link \" data-linktrack=\"LinkTracker,articleExposure,youtube\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> video, performing the hand movements to a children\u2019s song about a family of sharks.<\/p>\n<p>Despite having a slow start, Baby Shark Dance took off in 2017 due to the #BabySharkChallenge in Indonesia and a host of K-pop stars, including Blackpink and Girls\u2019 Generation, performing the shark moves on television.<\/p>\n<p>Baby Shark Dance is now the most-watched video in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/youtube\/\" class=\"exposure-link \" data-linktrack=\"LinkTracker,articleExposure,youtube\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>\u2019s history, having achieved 17.2 billion views, and has been number one on the platform&#8217;s global chart for 69 consecutive months.<\/p>\n<p>                      \t\t\t<!-- Dailymotion player (contact: Kutay.vardar@dailymotion.com) --><\/p>\n<p>Park is now launching his own music career &#8211; he never actually performed the lyrics in the video &#8211; and is using the name Baby Shark Boy because he never wants to disassociate himself from his past.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn an interview with The Guardian newspaper, he said: &#8220;To me, being the Baby Shark boy isn\u2019t a past I want to leave behind.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;[I do want to] gradually find my own style as an artist.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;Ten years ago, I was dancing next to Baby Shark.
