Johnny Depp<\/a> and Penelope Cruz in Day Drinker, the upcoming action thriller film, and Marc, the movie’s director, has revealed what initially drew him towards hiring Madelyn.<\/p>\nMarc told The Hollywood Reporter: “We looked at a lot of people. But Maddie has a high profile for a young actor \u2014 with her social media presence and how well Outer Banks had done \u2014 so I went back and watched her show, really studied her performance and I really enjoyed what she had done. <\/p>\n
“She\u2019s beautiful and talented but also has a relatability that I thought was very appealing.”<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Marc explained that Madelyn’s temperament was the perfect foil for Johnny.<\/p>\n
\nThe director said: “Johnny\u2019s not one to be particularly vulnerable. He\u2019s a dancer, a trickster \u2014 one of the great virtuoso actors of our time, but he doesn\u2019t cry on camera. <\/p>\n
\n“So, I needed somebody who could embrace a kind of pathos and give the movie a heart. And Maddie is very good at that.”<\/p>\n
\nMadelyn previously starred alongside Daniel Craig, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, and Jada Pinkett Smith in Knives Out 2, the 2022 murder mystery movie.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress explained that she relished spending time with the film’s star-studded cast.<\/p>\n
\nShe said on The Tonight Show: “I\u2019m filming the sequel to Knives Out, and I\u2019m very, very excited about it. <\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m just going to be completely honest with you, it\u2019s the most mind-blowing, terrifying experience ever. You know how you have moments in life where you just look around, and you look at life, and you\u2019re like, \u2018How in the s*** did I get here?'”<\/p>\n
\nMadelyn loved working with some of her acting heroes.<\/p>\n
\nShe shared: “I feel very lucky, but I walk onto set everyday and it feels like a miniature existential crisis, because I\u2019m working with people I\u2019ve looked up to for my entire life. And now I\u2019m getting to work alongside them, and they\u2019re phenomenal people, but it\u2019s a bit of a \u2026 It\u2019s terrifying, but it\u2019s also incredible. It\u2019s super-amazing; it\u2019s the experience of a lifetime.”<\/p>\n
