\nThe 62-year-old broadcaster announced in June that he would be taking a break from his work commitments due to “health issues” and has now explained the “really serious” reason for his absence from the airwaves.<\/p>\n
\nIn a video message on Instagram, Trevor said: “A lot of you may have seen the post I put up at the start of summer, saying that I was stepping back from all my work commitments due to illness.<\/p>\n
\n“There’s been a lot of speculation as to what’s wrong with me, I know that much. My phone’s blown up 20 times over with people asking what’s wrong with me.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\n“Due to the love and the positive vibes, thousands of you have been sending me, I felt that I should at least tell you what is wrong with me and what happened to me.”<\/p>\n
\nTrevor \u2013 who also presents a show on BBC Radio 1Xtra \u2013 explained that he wasn’t going to go into detail at present but said that he might “deep dive” into the “whole crazy story” at a later date.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I’ll tell you this, I was minding my own business and then it was discovered that I had a brain tumour.<\/p>\n
\n“As you can imagine, I was shocked. In fact, my world was turned upside down.”<\/p>\n
\nTrevor confirmed that he had “very serious surgery” that had gone well and declared that he feels “ready” to return to radio.<\/p>\n
\nThe DJ added: “I can only tell you the truth. I feel great right now, I feel ready to come back. I feel energised and almost back to myself.<\/p>\n
\n“I’ve had a really serious situation but I’ve come out the other side and I feel great. I feel raring to go. I feel in good health.”<\/p>\n
\nTrevor previously explained that he was “concentrating on getting better” when he first announced that he would be taking a break from work.<\/p>\n
\nHe penned on Instagram in June: “I wanted to let my followers, radio listeners and all my Soul Nation party-people know that I\u2019m going to be taking a little break from my work commitments. <\/p>\n
\n“Some of you may already have noticed that I\u2019ve not been on my daily Radio 2 slot this week. <\/p>\n
\n“After a routine check-up I was advised to have some follow up tests. As a result, I will be taking some further time off. As I\u2019m sure you can appreciate with health issues it\u2019s important to deal with facts and not speculate.<\/p>\n
\n“So I\u2019m concentrating on getting better, being back to 100 per cent me and to getting back behind the mic and the decks. (sic)”<\/p>\n
