The trailer for Angelina Jolie<\/strong><\/a>‘s new movie has been released!<\/p>\n

The 51-year-old Oscar winner directed close friend Salma Hayek Pinault<\/strong><\/a> in the new movie Without Blood<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, which also stars Demi\u00e1n Bichir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Jolie, Without Blood<\/em> is adapted from Alessandro Baricco\u2019s best-selling novel. Set in the aftermath of an unidentified conflict, the film follows Nina as she\u2019s embroiled in a yearslong plot of subtle retaliation for her family\u2019s horrific murder.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHow can God forgive you,\u201d Salma<\/strong>‘s Nina asks Demi\u00e1n<\/strong>‘s Tito in the trailer. \u201cRevenge is the drug that allows us to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly<\/a><\/em>, Salma <\/strong>admitted that she did not want to star in the movie and shared how Angelina eventually convinced her to join the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to do the movie. I didn\u2019t want to be Nina,\u201d Salma<\/strong> said. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to go to the places that she\u2019s been, emotionally. So I told Angie, I don\u2019t want to do this woman. I don\u2019t want to. It\u2019s too painful. It\u2019s taken so many years for me to get to a place in my life where I\u2019m really happy. I don\u2019t want to go suffer for weeks and weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cYou have to be at the edge every single day, every single hour of the day while you\u2019re playing this character. And there\u2019s nowhere to hide. There\u2019s not a lot of action happening. If for one second you are not there, it is going to be very clear.\u201d<\/p>\n

After lots of “long conversations,” Angelina<\/strong> was finally able to convince Salma<\/strong> to sign on for movie, which explores universal truths about war, trauma, memory, and healing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was afraid to relieve personal trauma that is completely different,\u201d Salma<\/strong> confessed. \u201cI think all of us women can identify some of our trauma to it. Being tossed aside. Men always making the important decisions in your life and having sometimes no choice but to go along with it. Being paralyzed by having your power taken away from a really young age. Having trauma and not knowing how to come out of it\u2026 And then finding the strength out of hate and anger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Without Blood<\/em> will be released in theaters on September 18.<\/p>\n
