King was referring to Panettiere\u2019s description of her relationship with her mother as \u201cvery complicated\u201d and a \u201cwork in progress.\u201d<\/p>\n
Co-host Vladimir Duthiers was similarly critical of Vogel\u2019s decision to focus on her daughter\u2019s struggles so soon after her death.<\/p>\n
\u201cHayden Panettiere spent years publicly acknowledging her own failures, her own struggles,\u201d Duthiers told King. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe cannot respond now, and for her mother to use these days after Hayden\u2019s death to just remind the world just how much trauma she caused, it\u2019s unseemly.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKelly O\u2019Grady also weighed in, noting that Vogel\u2019s statement would have been received very differently if she had stopped with praise for her daughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it stopped at \u2018She\u2019s amazing and she\u2019s talented,\u2019\u201d O\u2019Grady said, \u201cwe would all agree.\u201d<\/p>\n
Instead, Vogel also took aim at Hickerson, who was with the actress when she died.<\/p>\n
The complicated family dynamic has received renewed attention following Panettiere\u2019s death. In her memoir and subsequent interviews, the actress spoke openly about her strained relationship with Vogel and the difficulty of separating their roles as mother and manager.<\/p>\n
King ultimately expressed sadness over what she viewed as a missed opportunity to simply honor Panettiere.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes me so sad of the opportunity that you have after your daughter\u2019s death that that\u2019s what you choose to leave us with,\u201d King said.<\/p>\n
Panettiere\u2019s father, Skip Panettiere, took a markedly different approach in his tribute to his daughter, calling her \u201can incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actress\u2019 official cause of death has not yet been confirmed. An autopsy reportedly found no signs of trauma, with toxicology results still pending.<\/p>\n
