Olivia Rodrigo<\/strong><\/a> just liked a post on Instagram that has fans thinking she might be shading Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n

On Tuesday (August 18), the music magazine Pitchfork<\/em> shared an Instagram post about Aubrey Hobert<\/strong><\/a> as a follow-up to her polarizing Tiny Desk Concert<\/em> performance.<\/p>\n

The post links to a piece praising Audrey<\/strong><\/a> written by Sam Sodomsky<\/strong>, with the caption and the photos themselves including excerpts from the article. <\/p>\n

While the first photo on the slide simply shows a photograph of Audrey<\/strong> performing with the headline, “It’s a Good Time to Get Into Audrey Hobert<\/strong>,” the second photo has a quote that takes a subtle dig at Taylor Swift<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“The first time I listened to Audrey Hobert<\/strong>‘s Who’s the Clown?<\/em>, my initial thought was: These sound like the lead singles Taylor Swift<\/strong> doesn’t release anymore. What a joy to hear a pop songwriter with a genuine sense of humor and the confidence to make a song stick after repeated listens,” it reads. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Because Olivia<\/strong> liked the post, some people online have taken that to mean she agrees with the statement, and is “liking” Taylor<\/strong> shade. <\/p>\n

However, it’s worth noting that, on Instagram, a “like” correlates to the entire post, so it’s entirely possible Olivia<\/strong> only saw the opening image of Audrey<\/strong> with the text praising the singer\u2014and didn’t read anything further than that. <\/p>\n

The caption also<\/em> mentions Taylor<\/strong>, but only to say Audrey<\/strong> can be compared to “early Taylor Swift<\/strong> and Ween<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Many commenters on the post had a far more uncharitable interpretation of Olivia<\/strong>‘s “like.”<\/p>\n

“olivia rodrigo<\/strong> can\u2019t stop talking about taylor<\/strong> in interviews and now she does this but if it was the other way\u2026” wrote one person.<\/p>\n

“@oliviarodrigo\u00a0of course here you are supporting Pitchforks incessant Taylor<\/strong> obsession, because you have the same obsession,” said another commenter.<\/p>\n

At least one user did question whether Olivia<\/strong> actually read the second slide before liking.<\/p>\n

“@oliviarodrigo\u00a0you can’t be serious. Did you bother reading the second slide?” they said.<\/p>\n

There was previously speculation that Olivia and Taylor had feuded for years<\/h3>\n

There has long been contention between Taylor<\/strong> and Olivia<\/strong> fans that stems from the “Anti-Hero” singer, Jack Antonoff<\/strong>, and St. Vincent<\/strong> receiving retroactive songwriting credits and royalties for Olivia<\/strong>‘s song “Deja Vu.”<\/p>\n

It was speculated that\u00a0Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0alleged a copyright infringement on the song, saying it was too similar to her song \u201cCruel Summer.\u201d\u00a0But it later seemed like things were quietly handled out of the public eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really read that far into it,\u201d\u00a0Olivia<\/strong>\u00a0said in May. \u201cI think it comes with the territory, and it\u2019s par for the course. I think if I dove into every internet detective sleuth that got things right or wrong about my life or any of my relationships, I think I\u2019d just go crazy. There\u2019s just not enough time in the day.\u201d<\/p>\n
