The 72-year-old broadcaster – who hosted her eponymous talk show from 1986 to 2011 – launched The Oprah Podcast earlier this year and she’s taken what she’s learned from her years interviewing a diverse range of people and hopes to pass on what she’s learned about how to live a “meaningful” life.<\/p>\n
In a first-look video for her interview with LinkedIn Editor-in-Chief Dan Roth given to Entertainment Weekly, she said: \u201cI have observed so much from human behaviour, how to live a life that is actually meaningful, purposeful, and fills you with a sense of contentment.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing able to do that podcast is an opportunity, at this point, to offer what I\u2019ve learned, what I\u2019ve grown into, a sense of knowingness, a sense of wisdom \u2014 in the wisdom seat at 72 \u2014 to other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oprah joked she started the podcast because she “knows how to talk” and when she was a “little girl” going to church on a Sunday, her grandmother’s friends would joke she was a “talking child” so this seemed to be a natural next step.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cOne of the things I know for sure is I know how to talk…<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe idea of me doing a podcast is an extension, obviously, of what I\u2019ve been doing on the show all of these years.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI just realised that the times and the culture continues to move forward in a way that people are still seeking meaning and a depth of purpose in their lives. People still want that.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWith all the algorithms, with all the social media, with all the craziness that we experience, that when people sit silently with themselves, what they really want is to know that they matter in the world and that they are able to achieve a sense of happiness and well-being for themselves and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nOprah Winfrey recently admitted she doesn’t miss her talk show because while she loved being able to connect with the audience, making the programme and delving into hard-hitting topics became very “hard”.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on the Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast, she said: “I miss the everyday conversation. I miss the conversations afterwards.<\/p>\n
\n“As much as I loved the audience, I’m telling you, the nature of what we were doing every day became just so hard.”<\/p>\n
\nAnd Oprah admitted her producers would get “overwhelmed” if the programme didn’t win awards so she eventually stopped submitting herself for the major prizes so her team could focus on “doing the best work possible and she could focus on “putting out the effort to do good things, to be a force for good in the world”.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “It’s not gonna be measured by an award at the end of the year. It’s measured in every viewer response.<\/p>\n
\n“I’ve said many times, your legacy is every life you touch. It’s measured in all the lives that are being affected by what you’re doing and saying.<\/p>\n
\n “I still hold in reverence all the opportunities we had to reach into people’s lives and be there for them in ways that mattered.”<\/p>\n
