Hayden Panettiere died at the weekend<\/p>\n
The Heroes actress passed away on Sunday (16.08.26) at the age of 36 and it has emerged her on\/off boyfriend – who was previously jailed for domestic violence incidents involving the late star – and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were with her when she passed away at a South Carolina apartment building, with dispatch audio that has been made public referring to an “overdose” and “cardiac arrest”.<\/p>\n
Hayden had a history of substance abuse and alcoholism, and her estranged mom, Lesley Vogel, accused Brian of having “enabled” her over the years.<\/p>\n
She told NBC News: \u201cThis person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a lot of history in the past that Brian has enabled Hayden many times and this is why her father and I had been concerned for a long time about him.”<\/p>\n
\nLesley – who had managed her daughter’s career when she was a child – lamented the fact the Nashville actress had “lost her way” over the years but hopes Hayden has now found peace with her late brother Jansen, who died unexpectedly in 2023 aged just 28.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments and I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry \u2014 it is a struggle and it\u2019s a very challenging industry and it\u2019s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think it becomes very difficult to be true to yourself, and I think Hayden sadly lost her way, and I wish it were different. I wish she had stayed true to herself because she had many incredible attributes.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI just feel that she\u2019s with her brother and they\u2019re at peace.”<\/p>\n
\nHayden previously reflected on how her relationship with her mother grew strained as the boundaries between her as a parent and manager increasingly crossed.<\/p>\n
\nShe said on On Purpose with Jay Shetty in May: \u201cEverything was business. I became the confidant and the assistant and the therapist and the shoulder to cry on and everything but her child.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhile filming Heroes when she was 19,she told Lesley she wanted to find new management in the hope of rebuilding their personal relationship.<\/p>\n
\nShe recalled: \u201cI said to her, \u2018I don\u2019t want us to work together anymore. I just want you to be my mom.’ [She said] ‘You owe me.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI remember being hopeful.”<\/p>\n
\nBut she noted it was \u201cdisappointing\u201d when she came to believe her mother was referring to money. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cThe fact that she didn\u2019t care to have a relationship with me was a tough pill to swallow.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHayden remained close to her father, and it was Alan Panettiere who broke the news of her death.<\/p>\n
\nHe said in a statement through her representative: “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. <\/p>\n
\n“She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”<\/p>\n
