Tim Fywell<\/strong>, the director of Ice Princess<\/strong><\/em>, is honoring Hayden Panettiere<\/strong><\/a> and Michelle Trachtenberg<\/strong><\/a> after their deaths.<\/p>\n

Hayden<\/strong> passed away on August 16<\/a> at the age of 36, while Michelle<\/strong> died in February 2025<\/a> at the age of 39.<\/p>\n

Michelle <\/strong>and Hayden <\/strong>co-starred in the 2005 film. Michelle <\/strong>played the gifted student Casey Carlyle unexpectedly discovers a passion for figure skating. Hayden <\/strong>played Gen Harwood, an accomplished who starts as Casey\u2019s rival before they later develop a friendship. The movie also starred Kim Cattrall<\/strong><\/a>, Joan Cusack<\/strong><\/a>, and Trevor Blumas<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Variety<\/a><\/em>, Tim<\/strong> paid tribute to the two actresses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really upsetting to hear yesterday of the death of Hayden Panettiere at the age of 36,\u201d the filmmaker shared. \u201cI remember a brave, sparky, dedicated young actress who lit up the set in rehearsals and then the screen with her vibrant talent. Michelle Trachtenberg, Hayden\u2019s co-star in the movie, and she were an amazing pair.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tim<\/strong> went on to remember Michelle<\/strong> and Hayden<\/strong> as having \u201cvery different personalities.\u201d Michelle<\/strong> was \u201ckooky, fun, with an infectious laugh and her brilliant sad-funny comic timing,\u201d while Hayden<\/strong> was \u201cplucky and determined and perfectionist, spending hours practicing her skating and utterly focused on getting every acting take spot-on and truthful. Which she did.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn what was often a tough and technically complicated shoot, and my first Hollywood movie, they were delightful to work with and great to have around,” Tim<\/strong> concluded. “I remember them both with huge affection, how they were 20 odd years ago, at that relatively uncomplicated time of their lives, two shining talents, gone far too soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Greenville County Coroner\u2019s Office has said that Hayden<\/strong>\u2018s official cause of death and manner of death remain pending<\/a>. Michelle<\/strong> died from complications of diabetes mellitus<\/a>, with her death ruled natural.<\/p>\n
