Or maybe not so new.<\/p>\n<p>Police say that a man has been terrorizing people on the streets in Center City Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>The masked figure, believed to be a man, has been accused of chasing women and some men around City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The unidentified individual even attempted to enter at least one business.<\/p>\n<p>His mask appears to be a public domain mash-up of horror masks from various films, including <em>Child\u2019s Play<\/em> and <em>Happy Death Day<\/em>. The abundance of footage is one of very few positive aspects of living in our surveillance-riddled dystopia.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the figure placed his hand behind his back to suggest to one woman that he was concealing a weapon.<\/p>\n<p>She ended up getting injured \u2014 not by his direct actions, but because of her haste in trying to escape from him. This was the women whom he allegedly asked: \u201cAre you ready to die?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At best, this is a prank taken way too far. Police are already discussing charges against this malefactor when he is identified.<\/p>\n<p>At worse, however, this could be someone escalating antisocial actions as a prelude to carrying out violent attacks. After not succeeding, he turned his attention towards her, the woman who had thwarted his apparent hunt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI put up my hands as if I was going to fight. I blocked my face, making sure my center line was protected. And then he also started to put his hands up but I could tell that he\u2019d never been in a fight before,\u201d she described. He may also have stalked others who never knew that he was there, honing his skills.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the figure is a slender Black man who is about 5-foot-8. He appears to be in his late teens or possibly a young adult.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible that he is only attempting to prank his community. But pranks can come with real consequences \u2014 especially when they cross the line into criminal behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Police say that the individual will faces charges of terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and intimidation. <\/p>\n<p>If you make multiple people fear for their lives as if they\u2019re in a horror film, don\u2019t expect to be protected by plot armor or a setup for a sequel. You can get into real legal trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Also \u2026 this is America.
