The Heroes and Nashville star appeared on the Tamron Hall Show in May while promoting her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning and during the interview with host Tamron, the actress discussed addiction, postpartum depression, motherhood and her experiences growing up in Hollywood. <\/p>\n
She died on Sunday, 16 August, after being found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, with authorities still investigating her cause and manner of death.<\/p>\n
A source familiar with Hayden\u2019s recent appearance on Tamron\u2019s show has now told Page Six: \u201cIt seemed that she really felt wronged by so many people, and \u2013 with that \u2013 she was focused on resetting her life.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the interview, Hayden discussed her experiences as a child actor and recalled being given what she described as \u201chappy pills\u201d by a trusted adult when she was 16 before walking a red carpet.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThis was somebody that I trusted so wholeheartedly to protect me and it never crossed my mind \u2013 in that moment \u2013 (that they would put me) in a position of harm in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHayden was accompanied on the program by her publicist Kasey Kitchen, who joined her for part of the interview. <\/p>\n
\nAccording to Page Six, Tamron wanted Hayden to have somebody she trusted with her while discussing subjects covered in the memoir.<\/p>\n
\nThe source said: \u201c(Hayden) really wanted (Kasey) there for the hour, and their friendship seemed genuine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThey added: \u201cIt seemed like her publicist was the only solid person in her corner at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnother insider told the outlet Hayden and Kasey met after the actress had \u201cturned the corner in a better direction\u201d and described Kasey as someone \u201cHayden could trust\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nThe Tamron Hall Show revisited the interview following Hayden\u2019s death, sharing footage on social media in which she discussed the kind of example she wanted to provide for her daughter Kaya, 11.<\/p>\n
\nHayden said: \u201cI want to be an example of a powerful, strong, brave female, woman \u2013 and one that can say, \u2018No\u2019, and put up personal boundaries and not get taken advantage of. And I will burn the world down for her.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe interview also covered the health crisis Hayden said finally prompted her to seek treatment for alcohol addiction.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cWhen I got to the point of looking in the mirror and seeing my eyes had turned yellow, and that I didn\u2019t recognise my body anymore and I went into that doctor\u2019s office and got a blood test, and he told me \u2018If you don\u2019t stop, you\u2019re going to be looking at a liver transplant\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTamron responded: \u201cSo, you\u2019re 30 years old, and the doctor\u2019s telling you, \u2018You\u2019re 30 years old, Hayden. You will not live to see 35\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHayden replied: \u201cYeah, (the doctor said), \u2018If you do not stop immediately\u2019. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd, I was like, \u2018I can\u2019t do that to me\u2019, and if I can\u2019t do it for myself, I\u2019m going to do it for my child.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHayden had previously told People she entered treatment and underwent trauma therapy as part of her recovery. <\/p>\n
\nIn 2022, she described sobriety as \u201can everyday choice\u201d and said she was constantly checking in with herself.<\/p>\n
\nHer experiences with addiction and recovery became a major part of This Is Me: A Reckoning, released in May. <\/p>\n
\nThe memoir also covered postpartum depression following Kaya\u2019s birth, Hayden\u2019s relationship with Kaya\u2019s father, former Ukrainian heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko, 50, and the death of Hayden\u2019s younger brother Jansen Panettiere, who died aged 28 in 2023.<\/p>\n
