She tried to warn people. She knew this was always a possibility,\u201d says a source close to the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The insider went on to claim that Jolie had \u201clong believed that sobriety did not necessarily mean the underlying problems [Brad had] had disappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe doesn\u2019t believe Brad has fundamentally changed. She believes Brad is who Brad is, and no amount of sobriety or reinvention changes that,\u201d says the source.<\/p>\n<p>Brad\u2019s sobriety revelation comes about ten years after he was accused of behaving abusively toward Jolie and the couple\u2019s kids while drunk aboard a private jet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Db3iRbImyaz\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>Angelina filed for divorce shortly thereafter, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2026\/08\/brad-pitt-believes-kids-will-accept-him-again-one-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all of the kids proceeded to drop Brad\u2019s last name<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So Pitt\u2019s casual revelation that he\u2019s back to boozing caught quite a few fans by surprise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children,\u201d Angelina alleged in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.com\/news\/article-11281083\/Brad-Pitt-choked-one-children-slapped-face-spat-private-jet.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2020 court filing<\/a>, adding that he \u201cchoked\u201d one of the children and \u201cslapped another in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I got \u2014 I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,\u2019 he said with \u201ca little laugh\u201d during the <em>Esquire<\/em> interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, \u2018Yep, nope, not good for me.\u2019 Not in big quantities,&#8217;\u201d Pitt continued, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah. Well, I can have a few. But I can\u2019t have a lot. I have to be professional about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Brad has a history of (allegedly) not being \u201cprofessional about it,\u201d which is why he had to quit in the first place. <\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s also why folks who have been paying attention to this situation were surprised by Brad\u2019s revelation.
