The Challenge<\/i><\/a><\/span> star Tyler Duckworth<\/strong>\u2019s mom, Jodi Duckworth<\/strong>, is speaking out after her son\u2019s sudden death at the age of 44.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMy Ty-Guy would skip to school when he was little,\u201d Jodi said in a statement to People<\/i><\/span><\/a> on Friday, August 14. \u201cHe has now gone on to a better place where the hurts and challenges (pun intended) are no longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The grieving parent also celebrated her son\u2019s career as a middle and high school teacher after becoming a two-time champion in The Challenge<\/i> franchise.<\/p>\n

\u201cTyler found his passion in teaching, and he was good at it,\u201d she said. \u201cI understand his students loved him. He taught world history. He loved history and geography, and as he had traveled the world over, I am sure he brought many insights to his students.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler made his MTV debut on The Real World: Key West<\/i><\/span><\/a> in 2006 shortly after graduating from Tufts University. He went on to compete on six seasons of The Challenge<\/i>, which filmed all around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo all of Tyler\u2019s friends and fans \u2014 God bless you for loving my Ty-Guy,\u201d Jodi concluded.<\/p>\n

Grand Forks Police confirmed to Us<\/i><\/span><\/a> on Friday that detectives were called regarding a welfare check on Tuesday, August 11.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived at an undisclosed location, Tyler was found unresponsive and determined to be deceased. A cause of death has yet to be revealed, and specifics of the welfare check are not being released, as it\u2019s an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota State Forensic Examiner\u2019s Office confirmed to Us<\/i> that Tyler\u2019s autopsy was performed, and his case \u201cwill take at least 90 days for the full investigation to be completed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Long before his death, Tyler shined a light on the close relationship he had with his mom. In May 2023, he celebrated Mother\u2019s Day by posting several throwback photos with Jodi.<\/p>\n

\u201cWishing the best to my Mother Joni! Happy Mother\u2019s Day to a phenomenal woman!\u201d he wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a>. \u201cYou\u2019ve lifted me up so many times throughout my life, I\u2019m grateful to have you as my Mother! #MothersDay.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than two years later, it was Jodi who confirmed her son\u2019s death on social media.<\/p>\n
