Penelope Cruz<\/a> to come to her aid because she was baffled as to why she’d attracted the attention of cops.<\/p>\nSpeaking on the Therapuss podcast, she said: \u201cSpeaking of prostitutes, did I tell you the story about how when I was in Spain, I was working, and the police kept showing up to my apartment door?<\/p>\n
\u201cThey thought I was the leader.<\/p>\n

Host Jake Shane replied: \u201cThey thought you were a madam? How many girls were staying in your apartment?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhile on set, Penelope had asked Madelyn how she was enjoying living in Spain, which led to her being able to set the record straight.<\/p>\n
\nThe Outer Banks star recalled: \u201cShe was asking me how I liked living in Madrid \u2026 so, I was telling her \u2018I love it so much, but I have to move out of my apartment because the police keep showing up, and I\u2019m really scared, and they keep talking to me in Spanish, and I\u2019m trying to translate, but I don\u2019t know how.”<\/p>\n
\nMadelyn told Penelope the police kept \u201ctaking my passport and my information\u201d , which the 52-year-old star was “crazy” but started asking questions about where she was living.<\/p>\n
\nBy coincidence, it happened to be Penelope’s “first apartment building” and her “old neighbour” had called her and said: \u201cThey attract some local crime ring in Salamanca.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMadelyn added: \u201cThey tracked it back to the building and they were coming to my apartment directly and I found out later that it was some sex ring.<\/p>\n
\nShe continued, \u201cThey thought I was the madam of it.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Glass Onion actress stressed she has “no hate” for sex workers but wanted to clarify she wasn’t involved in the industry.<\/p>\n
\nShe jokingly added: “They thought that I was their fearless leader. I wasn\u2019t. I was their fearful leader. I was accidentally elected. I wish they would have let me know because I would have been a lot braver about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
