Drew Barrymore<\/a> broke down in tears on her chat show on Wednesday (12.08.26), as she was reunited with a flight attendant who had comforted her on her journey to sobriety. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Drew Barrymore has tearful reunion with flight attendant<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old actress struggled to control her emotions as an audience member she\u2019d met four years ago opened up about their first encounter. <\/p>\n
The flight attendant told Drew: \u201cWhen I met you, you were crying in my galley. And we sat in my galley, and you cried and cried because you were going through so much. You were just bawling, and I just was holding you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Drew then made her way into the audience to sit with the woman, as she gave her a hug and tearfully recalled: \u201cThat was a really, really hard year; it was actually the year I stopped drinking. <\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you stop drinking, it\u2019s not like all your problems go away; there\u2019s still a ton of work to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDrew then addressed the audience, as she added: \u201cI knew for me that was my number one problem in life. Alcohol was a poison for me, and I turned to it because I didn\u2019t want to feel. I felt better when I drank, so I would turn to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAs for the airline employee, Drew said she was \u201cgonna need\u201d her phone number, before telling her: \u201cThere was a reason we met that day; thank you for letting me be so honest and transparent with you then, and thank you for being that with me now.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI love you, and I\u2019m so glad we\u2019re here today talking about this.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDrew pulled the woman in for another tearful hug as the audience clapped and cheered. <\/p>\n
\nIt\u2019s not the first time Drew has opened up about her journey to sobriety – she previously spoke about it in an essay she wrote for her magazine Drew. <\/p>\n
\nIn it, she called giving up alcohol \u201cone of the most liberating things in my journey of life\u201d, and said she\u2019s finally been able to free herself from the \u201ctorture of guilt and dysfunction\u201d.<\/p>\n
