Becky G is her own competition<\/p>\n
\nThe 29-year-old singer – who has a particularly close friendship with Karol G – has revealed she hates it when female artists are pitted against each other.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking about her relationship with Karol, Becky told CBS Mornings: “We have a beautiful friendship, one I\u2019m really, really thankful for, and one that I think throughout the years, we\u2019ve really earned with one another.<\/p>\n
\n“I think that\u2019s for many, many reasons \u2026 through experiences, shared experiences, individual experiences and, of course, an industry that is so quick to pit people against each other.”<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
\nBecky rubbished the idea that Karol is a rival, insisting she doesn’t view other female artists through that lens.<\/p>\n
\nAsked if they’re rivals, Becky said: “Absolutely not. No.<\/p>\n
\n“I mean, for me, personally, my greatest competition is the person I look at in the mirror every morning, you know? And I know she feels the same way for herself. <\/p>\n
\n“Our goal is to be the best versions of ourselves, and it\u2019s been beautiful to kind of grow up in this friendship as well, and see someone literally just not only break down every door, but also hold it open for others to come through.”<\/p>\n
\nBecky feels proud of the career she’s managed to build through years of hard work and persistence.<\/p>\n
\nThe singer said: “I think that the coolest part about becoming, you know, the women that we are in the industry today is that we\u2019ve realised we can build our own tables.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Anitta previously praised Becky’s ability to celebrate multicultural identities.<\/p>\n
\nThe 33-year-old singer – who is a close friend of Becky – praised the pop star for her ability to represent Latinos in the US.<\/p>\n
\nAnitta, 33 – who was born in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil – explained to Teen Vogue: “I love that she represents all the Latinos that live here in America \u2014 because you feel like you belong to both places.<\/p>\n
\n“There are so many people in the same position that want to be able to say, \u2018I am part of these two worlds,\u2019 and I think that she does it perfectly. I love her.”<\/p>\n
