The 37-year-old actress – who was temporarily awarded primary physical custody of her and ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas’ three-year-old daughter Louetta in June – relocated to Idaho from Los Angeles early in 2025 to be close to her family but she’s now made another major change in order to begin a “new chapter” in Tennessee.<\/p>\n
Rumer took to Instagram to praise Roadway Moving for helping the move go smoothly.<\/p>\n
She wrote on Instagram: Moving your whole life across the country is a leap of faith.<\/p>\n

“So is handing it to strangers. Except the @roadwaymoving team stopped being strangers about ten minutes in.<\/p>\n
\n“They carried two decades of my life across 2,000 miles and set it down in Nashville without a scratch.<\/p>\n
\n“I got to say goodbye to my old home without worrying about what was in the truck and if it was going to make the trip in one piece.<\/p>\n
\n“That\u2019s worth everything during a week this emotional.<\/p>\n
\n“If a big move is in your future, this is the crew.<\/p>\n
\n“New chapter, officially delivered.”<\/p>\n
\nWhen Rumer was awarded primary physical custody of Louetta, she and Derek were given joint legal custody after agreeing to undergo a custody evaluation.<\/p>\n
\nThe judge also established a visitation schedule for Derek, who will be allowed to spend time with Louetta every other weekend under the supervision of a nanny and he will later be granted overnight visits without supervision.<\/p>\n
\nTMZ.com also reported the former couple were ordered to take part in co-parenting counseling and communicate through a co-parenting app.<\/p>\n
\nThe news comes after legal documents showed a bitter falling out between the former couple with Rumer accusing Derek of showing a “persistent pattern” of “insane emotional abuse” since they separated, which she claimed was “often in front of the minor child or while they were trapped in the car with him.” She also claimed her former partner has engaged in “ongoing coercive control through prolonged circular verbal attacks that he is unable or unwilling to stop.”<\/p>\n
\nLegal documents also showed Derek had claimed there were tensions between his former partner and her actress mother Demi Moore, who he claimed had threatened to “destroy” him.<\/p>\n
\nIn documents obtained by The US Sun, the 39-year-old musician alleged Rumer didn’t want her family around in the weeks after Loretta’s birth, but her mother ignored her wishes. <\/p>\n
\nHe wrote that Rumer had told him \u201cdirectly that she did not want her family present for the first 40 days after Louetta\u2019s birth in 2023.” <\/p>\n
\nThe documents added: \u201cNonetheless, on the day after Louetta was born, Ms. Moore and household staff members came into the home and caused a significant disturbance. <\/p>\n
\n“On this occasion, Ms. Moore, apparently based on something said by [Rumer], threatened to \u2018Destroy me’.”<\/p>\n
\nDerek – who has denied the allegations of abuse – took another swipe at “overbearing” Demi when he voiced his objections to his former partner moving out of California to Idaho with Louetta.<\/p>\n
\nHe wrote: “At no time did | agree to move out of state with [Rumer],\u201d and that he never agreed to allow her to relocate with Loretta after her birth.” And he alleged that during their relationship, the House Bunny star \u201cstated on several occasions that she wished to move to Texas or another out-of-state location in order to be free from her mother\u2019s overbearing and hostile conduct.”<\/p>\n
