What Is NIMRODS About?<\/h3>\n

Here\u2019s a synopsis:<\/p>\n

\u201cNimrods<\/em>\u00a0is a coming-of-age story about three friends (Mason<\/strong> Thames<\/strong>,\u00a0Kylr Coffman<\/strong>, and\u00a0Ryan Foust<\/strong>) who journey to Los Angeles, mistakenly believing that their band is opening for\u00a0Green Day\u00a0<\/strong>on New Year\u2019s Eve. Their roadtrip is a rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country filled with adventures, based on the exploits of\u00a0Green Day\u00a0<\/strong>and their years of living in a tour van.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cast includes\u00a0Ignacio Diaz- Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, McKenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sean Gunn.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The film was written and directed by Jenna<\/strong>\u2018s real-life husband Lee Kirk<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Green Day<\/strong>\u2018s Billie Joe Armstrong<\/strong>, Mike Dirnt<\/strong> and Tre Cool<\/strong> are producers of the movie as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to do a Green Day<\/strong> film. God, ever since the beginning, just all my heroes have always done films, whether it was Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll High School <\/em>by the Ramones<\/strong> or [the Beatles<\/strong>\u2019] A Hard Day\u2019s Night<\/em>, the Who<\/strong>\u2019s Quadrophenia<\/em>. I just wanted to do the same thing,\u201d Billie Joe<\/strong> said of the movie to THR<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nimrods <\/em>has an 88% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/h3>\n

The Guardian<\/em> gave it 3 out of 5, writing: “The soundtrack — about 98 percent of which is by Green Day<\/strong> — is a bit one-note, but it\u2019s got a lot of bounce. Likewise, the script is unsophisticated but enjoyably performed.”<\/p>\n

Empire Magazine<\/em> also gave it 3 out 5, saying: “Do you have the time, to listen to this film whine, about nothing and everything all at once? If so, you\u2019ll be rewarded with a mostly successful coming-of-age teenage ode to punk.”<\/p>\n

Time Out <\/em>also gave it 3 out of 5, writing: “It doesn\u2019t need a hardcore fan to figure out the film will end with a warm, reflective montage to the still gorgeous \u2018Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)\u2019. It\u2019s that kind of movie: obvious but sweet-natured and enjoyable.”<\/p>\n

Irish Times<\/em> gave it 3.5 out of 5, saying: “The script\u2026seldom strays from the familiar rhythms of the coming-of-age road comedy. Lee Kirk<\/strong>, who previously directed Billie Joe<\/strong> in Ordinary World<\/em>, embraces a broad, episodic formula that delivers a chilled-out comedy with few surprises.”<\/p>\n

The Upcoming<\/em> gave it 3 out of 5, saying: “Its plot can get contrived and the jokes don\u2019t always land, but Kirk<\/strong> and the cast manage to hit all the right notes to deliver a road trip film that music fans can get behind.”<\/p>\n

The Sun <\/em>gave it 2 out of 5, saying: “This overly complicated coming-of-age film is somewhat based on punk-pop band Green Day<\/strong>. Yet, while it features the US rockers\u2026it lacks the \u00adconfidence to be about them entirely, which is a shame.”<\/p>\n

Exclaim! <\/em>gave it 7 out of 10, saying: “Unless you look closely, you’d swear it was a long-lost ’90s comedy.”<\/p>\n

Far Out Magazine<\/em> gave it 3.5 out of 5, saying: “Nimrods\u00a0<\/em>is good-natured and consistently entertaining, if only occasionally uproarious. While the kaleidoscopic depiction of Americana succeeds in its ambiguity, there are instances of specificity that signify the talent of writer\/director Lee Kirk<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Radio Times<\/em> gave it 3 out of 5, saying: “As it stands, it\u2019s a solid enough movie with its heart in the right place and moments of well-executed joy, but viewers may be left with a nagging sense of opportunities missed. The music\u2019s great, though.”<\/p>\n
