News broke this week that Julie Andrews<\/strong> would not return for The Princess Diaries 3<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fans were largely upset to learn that the 90-year-old legendary actress would not reprise her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.<\/p>\n

She starred in the first two films, 2001\u2019s The Princess Diaries<\/em> and 2004\u2019s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Why Julie Andrews passed on The Princess Diaries 3, despite being asked if she’d join<\/h3>\n

\u201cI think I probably passed\u2014 I think I\u2019m retired, really, would be about the best description for that. [The film\u2019s creative team] asked me all last year if I would be keen to do it. It was very very hard to say \u2018no,\u2019 but I did because I thought I had a wonderful ride, and this one I felt would flourish very well and wouldn\u2019t need Granny going in there at my age,” she shared with InStyle<\/em>.<\/p>\n

InStyle <\/em>added that “at 90 and with arthritis, she mostly wants to keep out of the public\u2019s view.”<\/p>\n

Why Bridgerton is much easier for her to continue doing<\/h3>\n

If you don’t know, Julie Andrews<\/strong> has narrated Bridgerton<\/em>‘s first four seasons on Netflix as Lady Whistledown. The latest season debuted in January.<\/p>\n

You may be wondering why she continues doing Bridgerton<\/em>, but said no to The Princess Diaries<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The mag noted that it’s “easier for her to record her Bridgerton<\/em> Lady Whistledown voiceovers because she works from home.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI do it mostly to keep my brain alive,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
