Jenna Ortega<\/strong><\/a> is looking back at her time on set as a child star.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with Esquire<\/a><\/em> published on August 11, the 23-year-old Wednesday <\/em>actress said that while she couldn’t recall “one mistake” she made starting out in Hollywood, that may have been partially due to her attempts not to be a nuisance on set.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a child, I was so grateful and so excited to be there that my game face was on,\u201d Jenna<\/strong> said. \u201cI wasn\u2019t asking for a sip of water. I would go all day without eating, drinking, whatever, because I wanted so badly to not be in the way of anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now at 23, Jenna<\/strong> recognized, \u201cMaybe that was my mistake, was not actually looking after myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenna<\/strong> started acting at the age of nine and made her debut in an episode of the sitcom Rob<\/em> in 2012. The following year, she appeared in Iron Man 3<\/em> and Insidious: Chapter 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Emmy-nominated actress went on to say that she’s always been focused on becoming an actor for as long as she can remember.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was 7 years old when I said I wanted to do this,\u201d Jenna<\/strong> recalled. \u201cMy parents laughed at me when I told them that I wanted to do it, and then that was kind of the root of everything. The motivation. And I never really stopped, because I\u2019m very stubborn. And then I never questioned it.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the fellow child star that inspired Jenna<\/strong> to become an actress? It was Dakota Fanning<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a young girl, to see a young girl with so much, it felt like wisdom, like she had lived and walked this planet many times before,\u201d she explained. \u201cShe kind of taught me what an actor even was when I was a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n
