Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out to address her headline-making comments on why she “hated” filming New Girl<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n

The 67-year-old actress had a recurring guest star role on the Fox comedy as the mom of Zooey Deschanel<\/strong><\/a>‘s Jess Day, appearing in six episodes total across four seasons. <\/p>\n

During a recent appearance<\/a> to promote her upcoming new series, Newlyweds<\/em>, which she co-created, Jamie Lee<\/strong> said filming New Girl<\/em>, a single-camera show, was like filming a movie, and it was “awful” and “not fun” for her. <\/p>\n

After her comments made the rounds online, Jamie <\/strong>has now taken to Instagram to clarify what she said. <\/p>\n

“As if we don’t have bigger issues facing Americans and the world at large and natural disasters and unnatural behaviors of despots than to be concerned about a flip comment picked up at a press moment promoting NEWLYWEDS @NBC,” she wrote in the caption<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“I was there gushing about a multi camera sitcom that I co-created along with Gail Lerner<\/strong> about a late in life love and people finding each other and marrying on a whim,” JLC <\/strong>continued. “It stars, Tea Leoni<\/strong> and Tim Daly<\/strong> as the couple and we are having so much fun and the audiences are loving it and I was comparing how much I liked doing the show live in front of a studio audience, which is almost like doing a play where you get immediate feedback, and to the experience of doing a single camera comedy like NEW GIRL where there’s absolutely no feedback, as you’re trying to do comedy, like a comedy feature.” <\/p>\n

“I said it wasn’t my favorite experience although the show itself is fantastic and the team that made it are talented,” Jamie<\/strong> added. “Zooey Deschanel <\/strong>is an absolute gem of a human and said I got to play with my friend, Rob Reiner<\/strong>, as exes and that was sweet and lovely.” <\/p>\n

The actress and producer concluded, “Please, let’s not waste clicks and comments and just move on to WAY more important things. That will be all.” <\/p>\n

The series is “a later-in-life love story about a free-spirited woman and a buttoned-up professor who marry impetuously after a whirlwind courtship.”<\/p>\n

Newlyweds<\/em> is slated to premiere this fall<\/a> as part of NBC’s upcoming 2026-2027 television season.<\/p>\n
