The dedication required to obtain Taron Egerton<\/strong>\u2019s chiseled appearance in Apex<\/em> isn\u2019t as glamorous as it may appear.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s worth being wary of that, I think, because that version of me in Apex<\/em>, the guy who\u2019s whatever silly body fat I was, and all kind of strong, every day I punish myself for not looking like that. But the truth of the matter is that I starved myself,\u201d Egerton, 36, told Dax Shepard<\/strong> on the Monday, August 10, episode of his \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast while discussing how male actors are often portrayed in films.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was running myself absolutely ragged to get there,\u201d the Welsh actor continued.<\/p>\n

Egerton added that a friend once told him that his job was to \u201csmash\u201d the \u201cidealized version\u201d of himself, not to \u201caspire\u201d to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a tremendous help to me. It\u2019s one of the things that is a challenge nobody wants to hear about, but fluctuating relationship with your own images,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNever doubt Charlize Theron\u2019s commitment to her role. The Fast & Furious actress revealed that she did some of her own stunts while filming her upcoming movie, Apex, and she paid the price. \u201cOur crew delivered a really impressive movie, and yours truly did some stunts and action \u2014 without a harness, sometimes,\u201d said Theron, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Egerton said he was often \u201cfilled with self-loathing\u201d during his \u201cshirtless days\u201d filming Apex<\/em> and his 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t enjoy it at the time because I\u2019d completely lost any distorted sense of perspective,\u201d he explained. \u201cAlso, it ain\u2019t that deep. You bounce back, you carry on. It\u2019s fine. It\u2019s just what it is, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Apex<\/em>, released on Netflix in April, stars Charlize Theron<\/strong> as a grieving woman who finds herself being hunted in the wilds of Australia by a serial killer (Egerton).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe extremity of the role really appealed to me,\u201d Egerton told Tudum<\/em><\/a> ahead of the movie\u2019s premiere. \u201cBen is just about the most fucked\u2011up character I\u2019ve ever played. There was something delicious and irresistible about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
