Travis Barker<\/strong><\/a> is revealing some career advice he shared with son Landon Barker<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

During an interview on The New York Times<\/em>‘ Popcast<\/em> podcast<\/a>, the 50-year-old blink-182<\/strong> drummer explained why he advised his 22-year-old son to turn down an offer to appear on The Voice<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

“My son called me the other day and he’s like, ‘Hey, they offered me to go on The Voice<\/em>,’” Travis <\/strong>recalled. “I was like, ‘Dude, you’re way too cool for that. You got to think about your idols. If your idol is Kurt Cobain, would he ever do The Voice<\/em>? No.’”<\/p>\n

If you didn’t know, Landon<\/strong> has been pursuing a music career for the past few years now. In 2022, he was featured on Machine Gun Kelly<\/strong><\/a>‘s song “Die in California.” In 2023, he signed to Travis<\/strong>‘ record label, Elektra Imprint DTA Record, and released his debut single “Friends With Your EX” later that year.<\/p>\n

Travis<\/strong> went on to acknowledge that the advice might be contradictory, since he’s performed on American Idol<\/em> several times over the years.<\/p>\n

“I’m different,” he explained. “I’m doing fun s–t that’s just fun for me ’cause I’m a drummer and I’m not on the forefront. It’d be different if I was singing with all these people.”<\/p>\n

Travis <\/strong>also told Landon <\/strong>to “stay on your own trajectory.”<\/p>\n

“I’m in the studio, I hear the songs that he’s creating,” he added. “There’s no rush, you know?”<\/p>\n

Back in June, Travis <\/strong>and wife Kourtney Kardashian<\/strong><\/a> walked their first red carpet together in over two years<\/a> at the world premiere of his new documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear<\/em>.<\/p>\n
