Barack Obama<\/strong><\/a> has a new job!<\/p>\n

On Monday (August 10), the 65-year-old former President announced that he will be hosting a new podcast, called A Great Book with Barack Obama<\/em><\/strong>, for Audible<\/strong><\/a> about books that have \u201cprofoundly shaped his worldview and our society.”<\/p>\n

In each of the six episodes, Obama<\/strong> will discuss one of his chosen titles with a guest. The books he has chosen are Song of Solomon<\/em> by Toni Morrison<\/strong>, Tinker Tailor Solider<\/em> Spy by John le Carr\u00e9<\/strong>, The Fire Next Time<\/em> by James Baldwin<\/strong>, All the Pretty Horses<\/em> by Cormac McCarthy<\/strong>, Gilead<\/em> by Marilynne Robinson<\/strong>, and All the King\u2019s Men<\/em> by Robert Penn Warren<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat books have always helped me figure out who I am and what I believe,\u201d Obama<\/strong> shared in a statement, per The Guardian<\/a><\/em>. \u201cThe six books featured in this series have stayed with me throughout my life, and each one has something to teach us about the human experience.”<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this podcast, I invited some friends to explore why they resonate, how they can shape our understanding of ourselves and each other, and why literature matters now more than ever,\u201d he continued. \u201cI hope listeners will be inspired to discover or rediscover books that change the way they see themselves and the world.”<\/p>\n

For years, Obama<\/strong> has shared his favorite books, posting summer reads and end-of-the-year roundups. This summer’s list included Kin<\/em> by Tayari Jones<\/strong>, Vigil<\/em> by George Saunders<\/strong>, The Things We Never Say<\/em> by Elizabeth Strout<\/strong>, Transcription<\/em> by Ben Lerner<\/strong>, and Cool Machine<\/em> by Colson Whitehead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Obama<\/strong> will be producing the podcast through his and wife Michelle Obama<\/strong><\/a>‘s production company Higher Ground.<\/p>\n

A Great Book with Barack Obama<\/em> will launch on Audible on September 24.<\/p>\n
