Kelly Clarkson<\/a> opened up to fans in Las Vegas about one of the most chaotic break\u2011ups of her life, revealing she once had to end a relationship twice because the other person simply refused to accept it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Kelly Clarkson dished on one of her cringiest breakup stories<\/p>\n
Speaking during her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace on Saturday (08.08.26), Kelly introduced her song I\u2019d Be Lyin\u2019 by explaining the real\u2011life drama behind it. Not naming names, she said she had already broken up with someone when they suddenly acted as if it had never happened.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI swear to God, I\u2019ve had to break up with someone twice. That\u2019s a real story. That\u2019s true.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Behind These Hazel Eyes singer – who is currently single – told the crowd the second break\u2011up felt just as awful as the first.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cAnd it was hard both times. You feel like a piece of s*** both times, P.S. And I looked at this person and they were like, \u2018What do you mean?\u2019 I was like, \u2018What do you mean? We were there. We were both there. What the f*** did you hear?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe said the person in question had completely rewritten the conversation in their head.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt was already hard enough on both of us. Why are we doing it again? Like, it\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKelly went on to explain how people often twist words to fit what they want to believe.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThat happens, you know? You say something and people filter that s*** and they hear what they want to hear. And it is crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWithout the awkward situation, the star might not have written I’d Be Lyin’.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cSo I ended up writing this song. I was like, this is about to \u2013 we need a song for this. Anyway, the verse is more or less like what they hear.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLater in the show, the American Idol alum introduced Piece by Piece and reflected on the “tough” lessons she learned after a series of unhealthy relationships growing up.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt\u2019s a reality for a lot of us. A lot of us\u2026 deserved better, and that\u2019s a tough thing to grow up with\u2026 it\u2019s a tough thing to find healthy relationships when you\u2019ve never been shown one.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKelly added that therapy helped her understand those patterns.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cBut those are all excuses. I learned that in therapy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKelly split from husband Brandon Blackstock – who died of cancer last year – in June 2020 after almost seven years of marriage<\/p>\n
\nThe couple had River, 12, and Remington, 10, together.<\/p>\n
