Elijah Wood<\/b> <\/a>and The Lord of the Rings <\/i>cast recently reunited, proving you can always journey back to the Shire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe band\u2019s all here,\u201d Sean Astin <\/b>wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on Saturday, August 8, snapping a selfie from a recent gathering with Wood, 45, Billy Boyd <\/b>and Dominic Monaghan.<\/b><\/p>\n

Monaghan, 49, shared another image from the cast\u2019s low-key reunion<\/a>, revealing the group dined at La Royal in Cambridge, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

\u201cFour Halflings. Three cocktails. Two desserts. ONE great night of conversation. More to come,\u201d Monaghan teased of the evening. \u201c#becurious shoutout to the couple [photobombing] in the back. Well played. Thank you @laroyal_cambridge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAuthor J.R.R. Tolkien\u2019s fantasy series The Lord of the Rings made its big screen debut in 2001 with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring \u2014 and the rest is history. Like Tolkien\u2019s books, the early aughts film followed a hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) as he embarks upon a journey [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wood, Astin, 55, Boyd, 57, and Monaghan starred in the big-screen adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien<\/b>\u2019s iconic <\/i>Lord of the Rings<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>franchise. The first movie, which premiered in 2001, followed hobbit Frodo Baggins (Wood) on a journey to destroy the One Ring to help save Middle-earth from the evil powers of Dark Lord Sauron.<\/p>\n

In the years since wrapping the LOTR <\/i>series, Wood has largely stepped back from the limelight to enjoy a more private family life. (Wood and his longtime partner, Mette-Marie Kongsved<\/b>, are parents of two.)<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re well out of toddlerville and they\u2019ve entered kid-dom. It\u2019s incredible,\u201d Wood told The Times of London<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>in a March profile, noting his children have yet to watch his LOTR <\/i>work. \u201cThey have not, but only because I genuinely don\u2019t think they\u2019re old enough. I feel like it might be appropriate when they are 8.\u201d<\/p>\n
