Karol G<\/strong><\/a>‘s NO ME ARREPIENTO DE SENTIR TANTO<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is here, and fans are eagerly looking up the lyrics to the 35-year-old Colombian superstar’s latest studio album.<\/p>\n

One of the big standouts from the record is “Alguien que te amaba,”<\/em><\/strong> which is among the most searched songs on Genius.<\/p>\n

The song was produced by \u00c9dgar Barrera <\/strong>and co-written with the legendary Pete Astudillo<\/strong>, who was instrumental in forming Selena Quintanilla<\/strong><\/a>‘s musical style, writing songs like “Amor Prohibido” and “Como la Flor.” (Karol<\/strong> is a huge fan, and even has Selena<\/strong>‘s portrait tattooed on her body.<\/a>)<\/p>\n

She also references the Selena<\/strong> classic on the chorus of the song, singing: “As\u00ed como las flores que un d\u00eda se marchitan y el amor se acaba \/ As\u00ed como las noches cuando no hay estrellas, el brillo se apaga \/ Dime por qu\u00e9 lo hiciste yo estando enamorada \/ Pens\u00e9 que era pa’ siempre y estaba equivocada.” (“Just like flowers that wither one day and love comes to an end \/ Just like nights without stars, when the glow fades \/ Tell me why you did it when I was in love \/ I thought it was forever, but I was wrong.”)<\/p>\n

Karol<\/strong> spoke about how the song came to be in an interview with Rolling Stone:<\/a><\/p>\n

I ended up working on this song with Pete Astudillo<\/strong>, the composer of Selena Quintanilla<\/strong>\u2019s songs. I was like, ‘Wow, I would love to work with that person.’ Since she passed away, he never really worked with anyone else. And it was super crazy because I was with Edgar<\/strong>, and I said, ‘It would be a dream to work with him.’ Edgar <\/strong>was like, ‘He hasn\u2019t made music in a long time but let\u2019s look for him and see what happens.’ Then he tracked him down and said, ‘He super into it,’ and it meant so much because he listened to my album from the heart.<\/p>\n

Something that\u00a0Tr\u00f3picoqueta<\/em>\u00a0gave me, which is huge, was identity. From the beginning of my career I\u2019ve always made it very clear that I\u2019m Colombian, I\u2019m Latina, and on the stages I\u2019ve performed on, I\u2019ve always tried to make that very clear, but with\u00a0Tr\u00f3picoqueta<\/em>, it was like\u00a0the world understood it. And in fact, it was an album that I feel made more people who didn\u2019t speak Spanish understand who Karol G<\/strong> is. With\u00a0No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto<\/em>, even though I was very clear that I wanted a more intimate, alternative, sound, I didn\u2019t want to stray too far from the Latin sounds that say, ‘Wow! It\u2019s Karol G<\/strong>.’”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
