\nCrowds in football shirts swarmed Funchal Cathedral, convinced the 41\u2011year\u2011old star was tying the knot with Georgina Rodr\u00edguez under a fake name.<\/p>\n
\nViral footage showed supporters packed around the building, with some trying to peer inside as rumours spread that Ronaldo\u2019s \u201csecret ceremony\u201d was taking place.<\/p>\n
\nThe frenzy turned out to be completely wrong.<\/p>\n

\nThe couple actually getting married were Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, a French pair with Madeira roots, who reportedly had to push through the crowds just to reach their own wedding.<\/p>\n
\nRonaldo\u2019s sister Katia Aveiro unintentionally helped fuel the speculation after posting about arriving on the island for a \u201cparty,\u201d sending fans into overdrive.<\/p>\n
\nRonaldo later reacted to a local news report about the mix\u2011up by leaving five crying\u2011laughing emojis on Instagram.<\/p>\n
\nRonaldo and Georgina got engaged in 2025, and he previously suggested they would marry sometime after the World Cup, which ended on July 19.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Piers Morgan last November: \u201cWe don\u2019t have a date yet [for the wedding], but we plan to do it after the World Cup, with the trophy. We didn\u2019t plan that [the venue] because she\u2019s not someone who likes big parties. She likes private things, and I will respect that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHowever, Portugal didn\u2019t win the tournament, with Spain taking the trophy.<\/p>\n
\nThe couple announced their engagement in August 2025, with Georgina sharing a photo of her ring on Instagram and captioning it: \u201cYes I do. In this and all my lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRonaldo \u2013 who previously dated actress Irina Shayk \u2013 admitted he became emotional during the proposal.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Morgan: \u201cI didn\u2019t cry, but I had tears in my eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRonaldo said he spent a long time searching for the perfect ring because it was Georgina\u2019s dream to have \u201ca good stone.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cShe asked me for a ring to offer her because it was one of her dreams to have a good stone. And I work hard, work hard and finally I find what she love.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRonaldo insists he\u2019s \u201cnot a romantic guy\u201d by nature, but said the moment felt right.<\/p>\n
\nHe recalled proposing at 1am, with his children unexpectedly walking in as he was about to give Georgina the ring.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI said, \u2018Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.\u2019 It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day, but I hadn\u2019t planned to do it then.\u201d<\/p>\n
