A planned Star Wars<\/em><\/strong><\/a> movie is no longer moving forward…as a Star Wars<\/em> movie, anyway.<\/p>\n

Paddington 2<\/em> and Wonka<\/em> writer Simon Farnaby<\/strong><\/a> recently gave an interview, where he discussed a project that was meant to take place in the popular franchise.<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old writer, comedian and actor addressed what happened to the movie, which would have been directed by collaborator Paul King<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following the success of Paddington 2<\/em>, the duo were made an offer from Disney and Lucasfilm to helm a film.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we got distracted by that for a while,\u201d he told Variety<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

What Was the Planned ‘Star Wars’ Movie About?<\/h3>\n

According to Simon<\/strong>, the idea was based around a robot, and did not involve any of the major characters from the Star Wars<\/em> universe.<\/p>\n

Why the ‘Star Wars’ Movie Never Happened<\/h3>\n

\u201cThey were like, we really need it to be a Star Wars <\/em>movie, which is probably why it didn\u2019t get turned into a Star Wars <\/em>movie! But we never really nailed it,” he admitted.<\/p>\n

All was not entirely lost, however: the \u201cunspecified robot\u201d idea is being reworked by Disney.<\/p>\n

The Robot Story Will Live On as a New Sci-Fi Movie<\/h3>\n

\u201cThey basically said, it\u2019s not right for Star Wars<\/em>, but do you want to rework it as a sci-fi film? So we\u2019re working on that now,” he explained.<\/p>\n
