The 48-year-old celebrity gossip blogger was hospitalised in Florida earlier this week following the disturbing livestream and his loved ones have confirmed that he will “require surgery” for his injuries and faces a “long” recovery process.<\/p>\n
A statement shared on Hilton’s website on Saturday (08.08.26) read: “Perez’s condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.<\/p>\n
“His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday.”<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Perez’s family clarified that the only credible updates about his health will be published on his website PerezHilton.com.<\/p>\n
\nThey said: “His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements.”<\/p>\n
\nHilton’s family have requested privacy as the blogger – whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr – continues his recovery and have asked both the media and public to stay away from his Miami property.<\/p>\n
\nThe statement said: “We respectfully ask members of the media, paparazzi, content creators, and the public to leave the area surrounding the family’s home and not return.”<\/p>\n
\nThe latest update follows the previous revelation that Perez’s children were inside his home just minutes before he broadcast the worrying livestream.<\/p>\n
\nThe family penned: “The events of the past several days have been nearly unbearable for our family. Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece and sister were inside the home.<\/p>\n
\n“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Perez’s podcast co-host Chris Booker has described the star’s mental health crisis as “unimaginable”.<\/p>\n
\nBooker – who has co-hosted The Perez Hilton Podcast since 2015 – wrote in a statement on Instagram: “I am so profoundly sad for Perez and his family and what they’re all going through. It’s truly unimaginable.<\/p>\n
\n“I have spoken only briefly with the family. I read the statement that his team released and want to honour their wishes at this impossible time. <\/p>\n
\n“Even the family is struggling to get updates due to the confidential security measures in place at the hospital because of how many people are trying to get information.”<\/p>\n
