After years of hosting TV shows with celebrity guests<\/a>, Prime Video\u2019s The Chosen in the Wild<\/em> allowed Bear Grylls<\/strong> the chance to be more outspoken about his faith.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like all of us in our lives. There\u2019s times and places and relationships, and you should always adjust accordingly,\u201d Grylls, 52, exclusively told Us<\/em> about how he has navigated his faith in the public eye. \u201cIt\u2019s emotional intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grylls didn\u2019t want any guest to feel isolated.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes on Running Wild, I never know the background to these Hollywood stars. They might be from all different cultures or faiths. So you feel your way a little bit more sensitively, and faith is only ever a small part of that journey,\u201d he noted. \u201cA lot of it\u2019s hearing their life story and their battles and triumphs and all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chosen in the Wild With Bear Grylls<\/em>, however, allowed Grylls to \u201cget straight into that,\u201d adding, \u201cAnd viewers I think really want that. That\u2019s why they\u2019re watching the show. They want to hear how has it affected you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Prime Video\u2019s The Chosen in the Wild<\/em> follows The Chosen<\/em>\u2018s Jonathan Roumie, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James<\/strong> and Luke Dimyan<\/strong> as they take on challenges<\/a> across forests, deserts and canyons with Grylls by their side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what I was struck by on this series is how all of these actors \u2014 they weren\u2019t chosen because they were people of strong faith necessarily,\u201d Grylls told Us. \u201cActually, many of them came from very different diverse backgrounds of faith and culture, but none of them left the same. That was a powerful bit to hear.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cIt was a lot of emotion in those characters and in that journey for them. What I love about The Chosen in the Wild is the space and time to actually talk about those things in a real way \u2014 where it\u2019s not just a sound-bite. You can actually say, \u2018Actually, tell me about that. That sounded hard.\u2019 And you sat around a campfire or on the edge of a cliff and you hear those stories in a very raw, real way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grylls, who shares three kids with wife Shara Cannings Knight<\/strong>, was also thrilled to be on a family-friendly program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to stand for something good and that\u2019s going to be empowering for families to watch together,\u201d he said before the show\u2019s premiere on Sunday, August 9. \u201cIt\u2019s hard sometimes as a parent to know what to watch with your kids and the values that are going to come out. I actually do pride ourselves on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
