To say Candy<\/strong><\/a> and Tori Spelling<\/a><\/strong> have a complicated relationship would be an understatement.<\/p>\n The Beverly Hills, 90210<\/em> star\u2019s ups and downs with her mother were exposed when her father, Aaron Spelling<\/a>, died in 2006<\/a>, less than one year after Tori came under fire for having an affair with Dean McDermott<\/strong><\/a>. (She was married to Charlie Shahnaian<\/strong> when she met McDermott on set in 2005, while the actor was married to Mary Jo Eustace<\/strong><\/a>.) Tori, who only inherited $800,000 of Aaron\u2019s reported $500 million, had seen her dad for the first time in months just weeks before his passing, she wrote in her 2008 memoir, as her family struggled with her decision to elope with McDermott.<\/p>\n Candy later blamed the actress for Aaron\u2019s death in a radio interview. \u201cMy daughter one day decided that she wasn\u2019t speaking to my husband, myself and my son, and that\u2019s how it\u2019s continued for the last, oh gosh, four or five years,\u201d Candy told 94.7 WMAS-FM\u2019s Kellogg Krew in 2009. \u201cAnd it was sad. That\u2019s what killed my husband, actually. He just didn\u2019t want to live after that.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier that year, Candy had released an open letter to her daughter, claiming her daughter wasn\u2019t speaking to her and she hadn\u2019t met Tori\u2019s eldest daughter, Stella, who was born in 2008. (Tori and McDermott share five kids:<\/a> Liam, born in 2007, Stella, Hattie, born in 2011, Beau, born in 2017, and Finn, born in 2012.)<\/p>\n Tori, for her part, told People<\/em> at the time the pair weren\u2019t \u201cnot talking\u201d they just hadn\u2019t \u201ctalked\u201d recently.<\/p>\n \u201cI love my mother. I\u2019ve always loved her [and] no doubt she loves me. There\u2019s no feud,\u201d she said. \u201cWe simply never meshed.\u201d<\/p>\n As time went on, Candy slowly developed a relationship with Tori\u2019s kids and even helped Tori with financial struggles in 2013.<\/p>\n The family drama eventually subsided. In October 2022, Tori told Sirius XM\u2019s \u201cJeff Lewis Live\u201d that she and her mom \u201ctext every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n
