Times<\/em>. <\/p>\n\u201cBut I didn\u2019t drink into the night, you know. So, I wasn\u2019t really aware of having a problem, to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collins says the situation got so bad that there were conversations about \u201cpulling the plug.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were some decisions to be made about, \u2018Do we keep Phil on life support?\u2019 kind of thing,\u201d Collins said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy kidneys were packing up, my organs were just seizing up. People were coming to say goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAt one point, Collins was so close to death that his five children traveled from afar to say goodbye to him in his hospital bed.<\/p>\n
The former Genesis frontman added that he has no memory of those final visits.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I don\u2019t remember them coming. I didn\u2019t have no idea this was going on,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey were all worried that they wouldn\u2019t see me again. It could all have gone so terribly wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collins was first admitted to the hospital in late 2023 after returning to heavy drinking. He was released shortly before Christmas but was hospitalized again just weeks later, eventually spending months recovering from the ordeal.<\/p>\n
Thankfully, he says he hasn\u2019t touched a drop since he left the hospital in early 2024.<\/p>\n
These days, Collins\u2019 health<\/a> might not be perfect, but at 75, he says he plans to continue touring and recording.<\/p>\nAnd for millions of devoted fans, that\u2019s music to their ears.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
